Anna Wörner (born September 27, 1989 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is a German freestyle skier . She specializes in the discipline of ski cross .
biography
Anna Wörner began as a teenager in alpine skiing and in 2006 became German junior runner-up in downhill skiing . She has been racing in ski cross since 2007 and became German youth champion in this discipline in 2008. In January 2008 she made her debut in the European Cup with eighth place, shortly afterwards she made her debut in the Sierra Nevada in the World Cup , but was disqualified in this race. She achieved her first victory in the European Cup at the beginning of the next season in December 2008 in Grasgehren , beating her teammates Heidi Zacher , Julia Manhard and Alexandra Grauvogl in a four- fold German triumph. She achieved more top ten results with a podium and was fourth in the ski cross classification of the Continental Cup at the end of the season.
In the 2008/09 season Wörner established himself in the World Cup team with 18th place as the best result. She also secured her first German women's championship title this season. Internationally she improved in the next season , which she started with a fourth place in St. Johann and in which she competed in five of eleven races and was placed in the top ten four times. In addition to the 15th place in the annual ski cross ranking of the World Cup, this brought her the qualification for the Olympic competitions that took place in Vancouver in February 2010 . The general Olympic standard issued by the German Olympic Sports Confederation required a placement in the top eight or two placements in the top fifteen. In Vancouver, Wörner set the seventh fastest time in qualifying, but fell on the following first lap and finished seventeenth in the final result.
The 2010/11 season started successfully for Wörner. Was it the season opener at San Candido agreed yet on the places 15 and 21, it was the first World Cup victory of Heidi Zacher as a third of the race in St. Johann in Tirol 7 January 2011 for the first time on the podium and contributed to the hitherto best team result of German freestyle skis in the history of the World Cup. On February 11, 2011, she won her first World Cup race in Blue Mountain .
Until 2006, Wörner attended the St. Irmengard secondary school in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and in 2008 completed an apprenticeship as a nanny.
