Anna Führing
Anna Führing (born March 6, 1866 in Hamburg , † November 2, 1929 in Berlin ) was a German actress . She was best known for being a model for the Germania postage stamps of the German Empire .
Life
Anna Führing, daughter of the Hamburg theater owner and restaurateur Carl Führing , had received classical acting training in Berlin. She often performed Germania in stage plays , for example in 1891 on the occasion of a festival in Düsseldorf in the presence of Kaiser Wilhelm II.
In 1892 Anna Führing appeared in the role of Iphigenie at the opening of the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin , which is now home to the Berliner Ensemble .
In addition to her actual work as a stage actress, Anna Führing has also appeared in a number of films over the years .
Anna Führing was married to Ferdinand von Strantz († 1909), the 45 years older director of Berlin's court opera , who promoted her acting career.
Anna Führing died in Berlin in 1929 at the age of 63 and was buried in Cemetery I of the Jerusalem and New Churches in Berlin-Kreuzberg . The grave has not been preserved.
