Anne Dsane Andersen

Anne Dsane Andersen (born November 10, 1992 in Randers ) is a Danish rower who won the bronze medal in two without helmsman at the 2016 Olympic Games .

Athletic career

Anne Andersen started rowing in 2006. In 2009 she took part in the four-four at the Junior World Championships , but only reached 19th place. In 2011, she started in the single at the U23 World Championships and finished twelfth. In 2012 she and Lisbet Jakobsen took part in the last Olympic qualification in Lucerne in a double scull , but could not prevail with a fifth place. The following year she finished fourth at the European Championships with the Danish double foursome . In the same year she won the silver medal in double sculls at the U23 World Championships together with Hedvig Lærke Rasmussen . In 2014 Andersen rowed in the quadruple scull again, but only achieved ninth place at the European Championships . At the world championships she rowed with Lisbet Jakobsen to twelfth place in the double scull.

In 2015 the 1.87 m tall Hedvig Lærke Rasmussen and the 1.83 m tall Andersen formed a pair without a helmsman and took fifth place at the European Championships . At the end of the 2015 season, the two reached fourth place at the World Championships , being the only Europeans in the final alongside British World Champions Helen Glover and Heather Stanning . At the start of the 2016 Olympic season, the two Danish women finished fifth at the European Championships in Brandenburg an der Havel . The final of the Olympic regatta in Rio de Janeiro was reached by three boats from Europe - the British, Danish and Spanish - plus two from New Zealand, South Africa and the United States. Glover and Stanning won by just over a second over Genevieve Behrent and Rebecca Scown from New Zealand. Another second behind the Danes fought for the bronze medal and were four seconds ahead of the fourth-placed Americans.
