On October 2, de Jesus Fernandes commented on the draft law as follows: The obligation to be transparent is only applicable from an individual grant of 25,000 euros. [...] In addition, only the state associations of AWO , DRK and Co. would have to disclose their funds. As reported by the Nordkurier in February 2020, de Jesus Fernandes accused the chairman of the investigative committee, Jochen Schulte ( SPD ), of having "delivered informants from AWO circles to the knife and silenced them". He also alleged that Schulte, as chairman of the committee, had prevented a full investigation of the scandal by leaking anonymous information about allegedly dubious consulting contracts to Matthias Siems, the managing director of AWO Rostock.
