The building construction worker has been a state-recognized training occupation since 1974 according to the Vocational Training Act and the Crafts Code .

Duration of training and structure

The training period to become a building construction worker is usually two years. The training takes place at the training company and vocational school .

The profession has the focal points

  • Masonry,
  • Concrete and reinforced concrete work as well
  • Firing and chimney construction work.

It is a step training , i. H. A successfully completed training can be deepened in a further training occupation based on it. A building construction worker can therefore study for another year and then acquire a qualification as a bricklayer , concrete and reinforced concrete worker , furnace and chimney builder , structural mechanic for demolition and concrete cutting technology or carpenter .

Work areas

Building construction workers provide structures , i. H. complete buildings made of stone and components made of reinforced concrete and concrete . They find their job in residential construction , in industrial construction , but also in public construction. You create structures, but you can also modernize , repair or renovate existing buildings .

  • With a focus on masonry, they deepen their qualifications and build reinforced concrete prefabricated parts , create formwork , produce walls and corners and carry out wall and ceiling plastering work .
  • With a focus on concrete and reinforced concrete work, they make formwork and bring it to the desired location. In the thus formed cavity they now bring to bend and weave a steel reinforcement one. Then they produce concrete mixes , pour in the concrete and compact it. The woodwork is then loosened and the concrete is treated if necessary.
  • With a focus on firing and chimney construction work, skilled structural workers build firing systems , chimneys and flues . They install precast reinforced concrete parts and produce reinforcement.

Training allowance

The amount of the monthly training allowance is often based on collective bargaining agreements . According to the Cologne Chamber of Crafts, the following remuneration has been agreed since May 1, 2011:

  • 1st year of training: 632.00 euros
  • 2nd year of training: 971.00 euros
  • Christmas bonus: 301.66 euros per year and
  • Vacation pay around 30% of the monthly remuneration.

development

The number of trainees is falling. In 2001 there were more than 63,000 apprenticeship positions in the construction industry , in 2006 there were only just under 42,000.
