Anne Siberdinus de Blécourt (born October 4, 1873 in Appingedam , † November 8, 1940 in The Hague ) was a Dutch lawyer and legal historian.

Life

Anne Siberdinus was born as the son of the notary Lucas Wildervanck de Blécourt (born September 9, 1827 in Wildervank; † May 8, 1891 in Appingedam) and his wife Wilhelmina Tresling (born May 6, 1836 in Scharmer; † September 10, 1912 in Groningen) born. After completing his Abitur at the grammar school in Nijmegen , he studied law at the University of Groningen from 1892 . Here he received his doctorate in law on July 5, 1897, then worked as a lawyer and volunteer at the Reichsarchiv in Groningen and from 1898 as an archivist in Rotterdam . In 1901 he moved to the provincial registry of North Holland in Haarlem as a clerk , in 1903 he became an assistant judge at the district court in Zutphen , where he was promoted to judge in 1907. In 1911 he worked as a judge in Utrecht and in 1914 in the same capacity in The Hague .

On May 9, 1917, he was appointed to the professorship of Dutch historical law at the University of Leiden , which he did on June 27 of the same year with the introductory speech Het belang van het Oud-Vaderlandsch Recht voor dezen tijd (German: The meaning of the old patriotic law for this time ). In 1918 he founded the Tijdschrift voor Rechtsgeschiedenis (German: Zeitschrift für Rechtsgeschiedenis ), became a member of the Society for Old Patriotic Law in 1923 and founded the Legal History Institute in Leiden in 1928. In the academy year 1935/36 he was elected rector of the Leiden Alma Mater , in which capacity he gave the rector's speech Het historically en juridische bewijs (German: The historical and legal evidence ) in February 1936 . In 1936 he received an honorary doctorate from the Sorbonne in Paris and was knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion . On October 1, 1939, he retired from his professorship and died a year later.

family

Blécourt married Willemina Helena Roijaards (born June 25, 1870 in Oisterwijk, † December 1, 1966 in Bloemendaal) in The Hague on May 29, 1902, the daughter of Lodewijk Gerard Royaards (born November 3, 1830 in Arnhem; † 30 March 1918 in The Hague) and his wife Anna Helena Holleman (born February 2, 1842 in Oisterwijk; † June 11, 1929 in The Hague). The marriage has two sons and a daughter. From the children we know:

  • Lucas de Blécourt (born February 10, 1903 in Haarlem, † October 30, 1966 in Amsterdam) married. Married 10 January 1928 in The Hague with Catharina van der Veen Vonk (* 7 August 1903 in Zutphen; † 10 November 1969 in Wassenaar). II on August 5, 1949 in The Hague with Margaretha Francisca Ibeline van Berckel
  • Adriaan George de Blécourt (born August 26, 1910 in Zutphen; † November 21, 2010 ibid.) M. December 18, 1948 with Catharina Johanna Teding van Berkhout (born November 18, 1911 in Halfweg; † May 7, 2003 in Zuphen)
  • Anna Helena de Blécourt (* 1913 in Zutphen) married. November 21, 1931 in Leiden (closed June 11, 1948) with Hans Creutzberg (* 1913 in Buitenzorg)
