Annibale Venier

Annibale Silvano Venier (born July 30, 1951 in Terracina ) is a former Italian rower .

Life

The 1.85 m tall Annibale Venier competed at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal with Primo Baran and helmsman Franco Venturini in two with helmsman and came in fifth. In the following year, Venier and the Italian four-man with helmsman finished ninth at the 1977 World Championships . Five years later, he competed with the four-man without a helmsman at the 1982 World Championships and finished eighth.

In 1985 a new Italian eight formed with the line-up of Agostino Abbagnale , Sergio Caropreso , Antonio Maurogiovanni , Alfredo Bollati , Giovanni Miccoli , Maurizio Donna , Annibale Venier, Pasquale Marigliano and helmsman Siro Meli . This eighth won silver at the World Championships near Mechelen behind the boat from the Soviet Union and ahead of the boat from the United States. The following year, the Australians won the 1986 World Championships ahead of the boats from the Soviet Union and the United States, followed by the Italians in fourth place. In 1987 the US eight won the World Championships in Copenhagen in front of the boat from the GDR and the Italians with Ettore Bulgarelli , Giuseppe Di Palo , Antonio Baldacci , Piero Carletto , Giovanni Miccoli, Alfredo Bollati, Annibale Venier, Franco Zucchi and helmsman Paolo Trisciani . At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988, Venier finished seventh with the Italian eighth.

Annibale Venier is the father of the rower Simone Venier .
