Aili Ansa Inkeri Ikonen (born December 19, 1913 in Saint Petersburg , Russian Empire , † May 23, 1989 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish film and theater actor and singer.
Life
Ansa Ikonen was born in Saint Petersburg in 1913, but the family moved to Finland, which was becoming independent in 1917. After high school, Ikonen trained as a music teacher. However, she did not practice this profession because she concentrated on her film career. After a small supporting role, she received her first leading role in the feature film Kaikki rakastavat ( Everyone Loves ) from director Valentin Vaala , her first collaboration with Tauno Palo . In total, the two played together in twelve films, mostly romantic comedies, and were at times considered the dream couple in Finnish films. These films made Ansa Ikonen a star and one of the most famous actresses in Finland. She also recorded some records with Palo.
In 1944 Ikonen received the newly created Finnish film award Jussi for best leading actress for her role as Anna Ringars in Vaivaisukon Morsian , based on the drama by Jarl Hemmer . In the comedy Nainen on Valttia ( German Die Frau ist Trumpf ) Ikonen not only played the leading role, but also directed, as the second woman in Finland at all. Her last Finnish film was Miljoonavaillinki in 1961. Her last film appearance at all was a small supporting role in the American agent film Telephone , some of which was shot in Finland.
Since 1935 Ikonen also played at the Finnish National Theater in Helsinki . There she mainly played in comedies, but also in various plays by Shakespeare, for example Juliet in Romeo and Juliet . With the National Theater, she also had guest appearances abroad, including in Paris . In total, her theater career lasted 44 years.
In 1939 she married the actor Jalmari Rinne (1893–1985). Both played together in several films. Because of the great age difference, Ikonen played his daughter more often than his wife. Ikonen and Rinne have two daughters, Katriina Rinne (* 1939) and Marjatta Rinne (* 1945). Both are actresses too.
