Anselm Hartmann

Anselm Hartmann (* 1959 in Aachen ) is a German pianist and musicologist as well as a university professor.

Live and act

Anselm Hartmann studied piano and cello at the Musikhochschule Köln , Aachen department, and completed his studies with the concert exam for piano. In addition, Hartmann studied musicology, education, German and Romance studies at the University of Cologne . There he passed his master’s examination and obtained his doctorate in 1991. phil.

In the meantime he has performed as a pianist in several European countries, including four years on behalf of the Portuguese Ministry of Education. After graduating, Hartmann received his first teaching positions at several universities, academies and conservatories in the subjects of piano, historical and systematic musicology and music education . From 1994 to 1999 he was director of the church music school in Aachen, Gregoriushaus , where he laid the groundwork for its elevation to the status of a Catholic college for church music. A few months before the official approval of his initiation and the celebration of the graduation to the university, Hartmann received a call to the Catholic University of Portugal because of his previous contacts in Portugal , where he was taken on as a full professor of piano and musicology at its location in Porto from 2000 .

In 2003 Hartmann moved to the Vorarlberg State Conservatory in Feldkirch to take on the position of director and artistic director. At the conservatory, he pushed for a cooperation agreement with the Mozarteum University in Salzburg , which enabled students to obtain an international bachelor 's degree. As a result of this initiative, the Vorarlberg State Conservatory was awarded the European University Charter of the European Union in 2006 . In the same year Hartmann resigned from office for personal reasons.

A year later, under the artistic direction of Philippe Arlaud, he took on the role of managing director of the Feldkirch Festival, which has been held annually since 2001 . After the 2012 Festival, it was agreed to discontinue this event for cost reasons, which terminated Hartmann's contract. Subsequently, after appropriate further training, he and his wife settled in Rankweil as an independent management consultant .
