Ansgar Mayer

Ansgar Mayer (born July 24, 1972 in Ellwangen ) is a German journalist .

Life

Ansgar Mayer studied political science , history, specialist journalism and Catholic theology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and the University of Heidelberg . In 2008 he completed a business administration degree at the Fernakademie für Wirtschaft und Management in Hamburg . In 2011 Mayer received his doctorate from the University of Bayreuth in media studies / economics on "The potential of mobile audio media".

At “FAZ Electronic Media” he was Network- CvD for FAZ Business Radio from 2001–2002 and headed the editorial team at FAZ 92.4 Munich from 2002–2003. From 2004–2006 he was responsible for the electronic media division at the ifp journalism school . He was also responsible for inter-company volunteer training for the Catholic press and headed their radio and television studio in Ludwigshafen am Rhein .

Ansgar Mayer was head of cross-media training at the Axel Springer Academy from 2007 to 2012 , from there switched to management consultancy Greenkern and became Chief Product Officer of Computer Bild Digital GmbH in Hamburg on December 1, 2012 . At the beginning of 2016, Mayer moved to the Archdiocese of Cologne as Director for Media and Communication.

On September 24, 2017, Mayer caused a sensation with a private comment on the outcome of the federal election on Twitter ("Czech Republic, how about: We'll take your nuclear waste, you take Saxony?"), So that he was forced to make his statement publicly to apologize and Cardinal Rainer Woelki demanded more restraint in his own external communication from his head of department. On December 31, 2017, Ansgar Mayer left the Archdiocese of Cologne as media director at his own request.
