Addressing (hunting)
The response referred to in Hunter language precise observation, identification and assessment of wild before the shot is fired by the hunter .
Animal species, age, sex and any diseases or injuries to the animal must be recognized, as these factors provide the decisive reason for or against a shooting .
In addition, this observation of live animals is important for the assessment as game according to the Federal Hunting Act .
Examples:
- Due to age or gender, shooting may or may not be permitted ( Hege ).
- Recognized diseases or injuries can justify shooting during the closed season for reasons of animal welfare .
Even wild animals that do not count as huntable game due to their protection status under species protection law are addressed by hunters during sightings , for example beavers or wolves for wolf monitoring .
The term is also used in forestry: addressing a tree means identifying the type and condition of the tree.
