Bernd Krewer

Bernd Krewer (born June 1, 1939 in Bitburg ; † August 8, 2020 ) was a German forester , hunting cynologist and non-fiction author .

Life

After his training as a forester, Bernd Krewer joined the State of Rhineland-Palatinate as a forest clerk . After shorter professional inserts at the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), and as office manager he took over 1968, the direction of the timber mining area Hausen of Forstamtes Rhaunen . From 1973 until his retirement in 2000, he was in charge of the forest districts Alf and Springiersbach in the Kondelwald in the Wittlich-Ost forestry office . Since the Kondelwald is a red deer core area of ​​the southern Eifel and a designated mouflon management area, hunting -related tasks were part of his area of ​​responsibility. Krewer was managing director of the red deer management area Cochem-Kondel and a member of the trophy evaluation commission and is a nationally recognized search specialist and judge for welding dog work tests and form evaluations of Hanoverian welding dogs .

As a welding dog handler, he mainly used Hanoverian welding dogs, which he has been leading since 1958 and also breeding since 1969. In the Hirschmann Association , which takes care of this breed of dogs within the VDH and the Jagdgebrauchshundverband (JGHV), he was involved as a performance and form judge , among other things . For his services, the association made him an honorary member during the 2009 annual general meeting organized by Krewer. In addition, Krewer is one of the founding members of the Jagd- Beagle Association , which made him an honorary member as well as the German Bracken Club.

From 1986 to 1992 was Bernd Krewer Commissioner for Public Relations and Press Officer of the Hunting Dog Association (JGHV) and had as such acts as contacts for Section German drag hunt Association (DSJV) at the German Riding & Driving Association (DRFV). For many years, Krewer was also a judge for pack dogs as a judge at the “Bundeschampionat der Meutehalter”, but announced his retirement in 2009, promising to keep the connection to the JGHV for the drag hunt association in the future. He also worked for the drag hunt association for several years as a consultant for environmental protection and nature conservation .

From 1985 onwards, Krewer processed his experiences and insights as a forester and hunter in several autobiographical books. But he is best known for his non-fiction books on the practice of hunting. His aim was to combine the demands of forestry with the needs of game. Krewer therefore advocated hunting strategies that are fair to hunting , game and animal welfare , which should not only benefit the game, but also the forest .

Krewer published his books mostly with the specialist publishers Neumann-Neudamm and blv , which specialize in hunting and forestry . Some of his works have been translated into Czech and Hungarian . With his lectures, he was also in demand nationwide as a speaker at meetings related to hunting and, as a technical expert, was an employee of the former special interest channel Seasons .

Bernd Krewer was married and the father of two daughters and a son. He lived with his wife since 1996 in Kinderbeuern in the Alftal at the foot of the Kondelwald. He died on August 8, 2020 after a long illness.
