Anstruther (Enster in Scots , Eanstar in Gaelic ) is a place with 3446 inhabitants in the Scottish Council Area Fife . Anstruther consists of the parts Anstruther Easter, Anstruther Wester and Kilrenny. The east and west parts are separated by the Dreel Burn stream. In addition, the eastern village Cellardyke belongs to the place. Anstruther is about 15 kilometers southeast of St Andrews and is the largest parish in East Neuk , the north coast of the Firth of Forth . It is believed that Anstruther has a long history. Archaeological research and other evidence point to links to the Picts and the early Christian church.

Originally a fishing village and still today the location of the Scottish Fisheries Museum , tourism is the most important branch of the economy today. There are many pleasure boats in the harbor, there is a golf course and a recreation center is planned.
