biography

society

Antonio "Piolín" Mota played for Club Deportivo Oro and Club Necaxa . Reliable data on the duration of his club stations are not known. In the English language version, his affiliation with Oro is given as 1959 to 1964 and Necaxa is named for the subsequent period from 1964 to 1971. The available World Cup statistics at least confirm that he was under contract with Oro in 1962 and with Necaxa in 1970 . While a source confirms that he played for Necaxa in the 1965/66 season, he was (again) under contract with Oro in at least the 1968/69 season, according to the RSSSF international match statistics, while he was (again) with Necaxa in 1969/70 .

National team

Between 1961 and 1970 Mota came to a total of 15 missions for the Mexican national soccer team . He made his international debut on April 19, 1961 in a friendly game in the Netherlands, which Mexico won 2-1. His last international match was on September 30, 1970 in a friendly in Brazil, which was lost 2-1. His blackest hour in an international match was on May 10, 1961 in England, when he played the full distance and the Mexicans suffered the highest defeat in their international history with 8-0.

Mota was part of Mexico's World Cup squad twice: in 1962 he was third goalkeeper behind Carbajal and Gómez , and in 1970 he was second goalkeeper behind Calderón . He did not come to a World Cup.
