Antonio Ximenes da Costa

António Ximenes da Costa (born August 20 in Venilale ) is a politician from East Timor .

Life

Costa studied in Indonesia . Among other things, he attended the Roman Catholic seminary on Flores . His first contact with politics was in the Indonesian Christian party Partai Demokrasi Kasih Bangsa (PDKB) in Java . Costa later served as director of the National Commission for Study on the Future of East Timor , a local non-governmental organization . He is also a lecturer at the National University in Dili (as of 2007).

In 1999 Costa founded the Christian social Partido Democrata Cristão (PDC) and became its chairman. In the parliamentary elections on August 30, 2001 , he was elected to the national parliament of East Timor . In 2007 and 2012 the PDC failed because of the three percent hurdle.
