Antanas Kvedaras

Antanas Kvedaras (* 1887 in Žiuriai , Wolost Žagarė near Joniškis ; † 1967 in Kaunas ) was a Lithuanian forest official , Soviet-Lithuanian forest scientist and politician .

Life

In 1923 Kvedaras graduated from the Dotnuva Agricultural School and then worked as a forester in Panemunė and from 1924 to 1940 at Miškų departamentas. From 1940 to 1941 he was the director of the national authority "Forest Department" ( Miškų departamentas ). During World War II he lived in Russia . From 1944 to 1946 he was People's Commissar of the Forest Industry of Lithuania . From 1946 to 1947 he was Deputy Minister of Forest Industry and from 1947 to 1950 Soviet-Lithuanian Minister of Forestry . From 1950 to 1961 he headed the Lietuvos miškų ūkio institutas as director and from 1950 to 1961 the nature conservation commission of the Lietuvos mokslų akademija .

The Kaunas Forest Technical Center was named after him in 1967 .
