Villeneuve-sur-Vère is a French commune with 494 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region . It belongs to the arrondissement of Albi and the canton of Albi-3 (until 2015: canton of Albi-Nord-Ouest ).
geography
Villeneuve-sur-Vère is located about twelve kilometers north-west of the center of Albi on the edge of the Cevennes Mountains. The Vère flows through the municipality. Villeneuve-sur-Vère is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Milhavet in the north, Virac in the northeast, Mailhoc in the east, Castanet (Tarn) in the south, Cestayrols in the southwest, Noailles in the west and Livers-Cazelles in the northwest.

Originally the place was founded as Bastide Villeneuve-la-nouvelle around 1212 by Déodat Alaman.
