Montans ( Occitan : Montant ) is a French commune with 1,431 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region . Montans belongs to the Arrondissement of Albi and the canton of Les Deux Rives (until 2015: canton of Gaillac ).

Montans is located about 45 kilometers northeast of Toulouse and about 18 kilometers west-southwest of Albi am Tarn , which forms the northern municipal boundary. Montans is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Gaillac in the north and northeast, Brens in the northeast, Técou in the east, Peyrole in the south, Parisot in the south and southwest, Loupiac in the west and southwest and Lisle-sur-Tarn in the west.

The A68 autoroute runs through the municipality .
