Técou ( Occitan : Tecon ) is a French commune with 976 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitania region . Técou belongs to the Arrondissement of Albi and the canton of Les Deux Rives (until 2015: canton of Cadalen ). The inhabitants are called Técounais .

geography

Técou is located about 48 kilometers northeast of Toulouse and about 18 kilometers west-southwest of Albi . Técou is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Brens in the north, Cadalen in the east and south-east, Peyrole in the south and south-west and Montans in the west.

history

From 1268 to 1277 the Bastide zu Técou was founded and built by Philip II of Montfort .
