Saint-Juéry ( Occitan : Saint-Juèri ) is a French commune with 6,818 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region . Saint-Juéry belongs to the canton of Saint-Juéry .

The name of the parish is derived from St. Georg exits.

location

Saint-Juéry is located about 5.5 kilometers northeast of Albi on the southern bank of the Tarn River . On the other side of the river is the municipality of Arthès , to the south the municipality of Cunac , to the northeast Saint-Grégoire and to the east Bellegarde-Marsal .

history

In 1160 the fortress of Saint-Juéry-le-Haut was built. However, nothing can be seen of this building. The facility was razed in the 17th century.
