The municipality of Montauriol is located on a mountain spur in the northeast of the Tarn department, about 25 kilometers northeast of Albi , 15 kilometers east of Carmaux and not far from the Viaur viaduct . The Céret rises in the municipality , a tributary of the Cérou , which drains the Tarn to the Garonne via Aveyron .
