The decline in the number of inhabitants in the late 19th and first half of the 20th century is essentially due to the mechanization of agriculture .
economy
The residents of the village traditionally lived as self-sufficient farmers. Leather production and processing flourished in the previous towns of Les Cabannes; smaller watermills have also been identified. Most of the stones used to build Cordes come from here.
history
Tanneries, mills and quarries formed the basis of the independence of Les Cabannes, in whose place name the memory of the simple dwellings of the craftsmen and stonemasons ( cabannes ) lives on. In 1538 the place was set on fire by the Protestants. The present place was created in 1840 by merging Corrompis and Lacapelle-Sainte Luce .
