Castanet ( identical in Occitan ) is a French commune with 199 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Tarn department in the Occitania region . Castanet belongs to the Arrondissement of Albi and the Canton of Les Deux Rives (until 2015: Canton Gaillac ). The inhabitants are called Castanetois .

geography

Castanet is about 62 kilometers northeast of Toulouse and about ten kilometers west-northwest of Albi . Castanet is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villeneuve-sur-Vère in the north, Mailhoc in the northeast, Sainte-Croix in the east, Castelnau-de-Lévis in the southeast, Bernac in the south and Cestayrols in the west.
