Vindrac-Alayrac is a municipality in the south of France with 150 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the area of Cordes-sur-Ciel in the Tarn department in the Occitanie region .
location
The twin village Vindrac-Alayrac is located on the south bank of the Cérou river in the Albigeois cultural landscape, just 4 km (driving distance) west of Cordes-sur-Ciel at an altitude of approx. 165 m above sea level. d. M. The climate is temperate; Rain falls all year round.

The decline in the number of inhabitants in the late 19th and first half of the 20th century is mainly due to the mechanization of agriculture and the associated loss of jobs.

The residents of the village traditionally lived as self-sufficient farmers. Leather production and processing flourished in the towns on the south bank of the Cérou; smaller watermills have also been identified.
history
Tanneries and mills formed the basis for Vindrac-Alayrac's independence. The current place was created in 1840 by merging Vindrac and Alayrac .
Attractions
- The late Gothic church of St-Martin with its offset octagonal tower structure is - with the exception of the corner stones and the window frames - built from rubble stones .
- The late medieval bridge Pont des Anes leads over the Cérou and today forms the border to the neighboring municipality of Les Cabannes to the east ; it was recognized as a Monument historique in 2006 .

The troubadour Raimon d'Alayrac was probably born in Alayrac in the 15th century.
