Guten Morgen Österreich (GMÖ) is the title of the breakfast television produced by ORF since March 29, 2016 . The program will be broadcast Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (until August 18, 2017 from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.) live from an Austrian community on ORF 2 . The ORF started after Puls 4 with “ Café Puls ” (since 2004) and ServusTV with “Servus am Morgen” (2013 to 2017), the third breakfast television in Austria.

From August 21, 2017 to December 21, 2018, the now discontinued program Daheim in Austria was also broadcast from the mobile studio from 5:30 p.m. The broadcast location was the municipality (sometimes also a smaller town) in which Guten Morgen Austria was a guest on the following day, only on Fridays the same as on Thursday. The name Unterwegs in Österreich was created as a kind of umbrella brand for both formats with thematic inclusion of the information magazines Mittag in Austria and Aktuell in Austria . Since the beginning of 2019, the title Unterwegs in Österreich has only been used to refer to Guten Morgen Österreich .

concept

What is special about this breakfast television is its regional orientation. It is broadcast every week from a different federal state and (with a few exceptions) every day from a different municipality from a mobile studio, although there is usually only one location per week in Vienna.

In this concept, financing is also provided by the municipalities, who can buy a portrait of the town . Initially, the program focused on different content every weekday (Monday: society and culture, Tuesday: health and nature, Wednesday: film and television, Thursday: work and business, Friday: leisure and sport). This concept was soon abandoned; only individual rubrics are still tied to a specific weekday.

If live broadcasts from Parliament are then broadcast on ORF 2 or the time in the picture is extended to 9 a.m. for current reasons, the broadcast time ends at 9 a.m.

Due to the additional work of the two main moderators Eva Pölzl and Lukas Schweighofer at Daheim in Austria , they were represented more often, especially in October 2017. From October 30, 2017, Jan Matejcek took over the moderation in those federal states, with the exception of Vorarlberg, where Lukas Schweighofer had previously hosted the show, while Schweighofer only moderated at home in Austria . Eva Pölzl, however, gave up her moderation on the previous evening broadcast. Due to the cessation of at home in Austria , Lukas Schweighofer took over the last federal states moderated by Jan Matejcek from January 2019. Matejcek is now working as an outside reporter for the new pre-evening program Studio 2 . Occasionally he continues to moderate Good Morning Austria as a substitute for the main moderators.

Nina Kraft , Julia Zeidlhofer and Patrick Budgen also act as substitute moderators , and until February 2017 it was also Thomas Birgfellner .

In addition to the weather forecast, this also included the bio-weather, the lunar calendar, farming rules, a weather quiz, audience inquiries and traffic information. From November 2017, the weather was broadcast in a shortened version tailored to the essential forecast from the mobile studio and presented by the co-moderator of the respective federal state.
