history
The prehistoric settlement of Gurina can be traced back to the Hallstatt period in what is now the municipality . In the vicinity of the settlement, copper smelting caves were discovered, which lasted for the years 600 to 400 BC. Attest a flourishing culture. Celtic coins were minted in Gurina, the settlement is at least 2900 years old and in Roman times was probably the first Roman city complex in present-day Austria.
The name Dellach comes from the Slavic ("Doljah", for "with the valley inhabitants" ), the Slovenian name could be "Dole" (from dol: down, down, valley side), in dialect "Doljani" (see Dellach ). In 1370 the place was first mentioned as Doelach .
Excavations at the current parish church of St. Daniel have uncovered the remains of four previous buildings from the Carolingian era to the late Romanesque, which suggests settlement from the early Middle Ages.
The Goldenstein Castle was of great importance as the seat of a regional court - later united with Pittersberg - for the upper Gail Valley. It was given as a fiefdom of the Counts of Görz-Tirol , after their extinction came under the sovereign rule of the Habsburgs and was handed over to Gabriel von Salamanca together with the County of Ortenburg in 1524 . In 1640 the Widmann brothers acquired the county with all rulership rights and sold it to Ferdinand von Porcia as early as 1662, in whose family the judiciary of Goldenstein remained until 1848 and ownership of the castle until 1918.
After the discovery of zinc and copper, Dellach has been a center of metal processing since the end of the Middle Ages, in the 18th and 19th centuries iron ore was also mined and processed, at times 291 miners and metal workers lived in Dellach.
The community was constituted in 1850 and has not changed its borders since then.
