Prutz is an Austrian municipality with 1871 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Landeck district in the state of Tyrol .
geography
Prutz is located at the exit of the Kaunertal in the Upper Court , the uppermost part of the Tyrolean Inn Valley . The village center lies on an alluvial cone of the Faggenbach .

history
Prutz, located on the former Via Claudia Augusta , has been a rest stop and later a post office since the Carolingian era . The conditions were favorable for a settlement development. Documented the place was first in the years 1027-1034 as the "locus qui dicitur Bruttes" during a Zehentstreits between the Episcopal Churches of Brixen and Regensburg mentioned.
The late Gothic parish church was redesigned in Baroque style in the 17th century . In 1903, a major fire destroyed most of the village, the typical West Tyrolean settlement pattern with closely spaced rows of houses is still preserved in the center. Prutz was originally part of the Ried judicial district in Tyrol and became part of the Landeck judicial district after the Ried judicial district was dissolved in 1978.

Economy and Infrastructure
The TIWAG Kaunertal power plant with a nominal output of almost 400 MW, which was built in 1964, is located in Prutz . ( 47 ° 4 '3.6 " N , 10 ° 39' 54.4" O ) It receives water from the Gepatschspeicher a 13.2 km long pressure water pipe.

Prutz is on the long-distance cycle path , which runs as the Via Claudia Augusta along an ancient Roman road of the same name .
