history

The origin of the name Ladis is unknown. It was traced back to the Latin latus side , for example in connection with Pontlatzbrücke , pons Ladi . It is probably handed down in Romansh .

The discovery of the Tyrolean Sauerbrunnen was handed down in 1212. The place and the church are first documented in 1220, the ministerials of Laudeck in 1232.

The Laudegg was first documented in 1239.

In 1406 the Oberinntaler joined the Appenzell peasant uprising under Itel Reding . The village of Ladis was burned down and the castle destroyed. In 1412 the Oberlanders in Prutz again made a pledge of loyalty to the keeper of Laudegg and the sovereign.

A bathing and drinking cure operation at Obladis then began under the Tyrolean rulers of the Renaissance , who owned the spring.

In 1635 the place was ravaged by the plague. Originally Ladis was part of the mother parish Serfaus , later in 1661 the place received the status of a curate . The place was destroyed by a fire on October 1683. The rebuilt church was consecrated in 1698.

In 1703 French and Bavarian troops were defeated by a contingent of Ladissers, Landeckers and Pfundser.

In 1891 Ladis was made a parish .

Ladis was originally part of the judicial district of Ried in Tirol and after its dissolution became part of the judicial district of Landeck .

The main town of the municipality is the village of Ladis . It is just before the north end of the sun terrace, directly above Prutz , to which the valley shoulder suddenly breaks off.

The old town center extends at the village pond and directly behind Laudegg , which stands as a spur castle high above the valley floor. The center is densely built and the houses are partially painted with rich facade. In contrast to Fiss and Serfaus , Ladis is still rural in its center.

The place, in today's expansion of a little over a kilometer along the plateau, extends from about 1100 to 1300  m above sea level. A. (the village church is 1189  m above sea level ), from the serpentines to the edge of the forest. It includes the vast majority of the community's population.

The Sonnenbahn valley station is located in the very south-west of the village . From there you can get to Fiss and the ski area.

Economy and Infrastructure

traffic

Ladis has road connections with Ried and Fiss : From Ried up comes the serpentine Ladiser Straße L 286, which branches off from Serfauser Landesstraße L 19. Then it leads through the village as a village road and along the sun terrace over Überwasser to Fiss.

tourism

Ladis is connected to the Serfaus-Fiss ski area by a single-cable gondola lift. Together, the three places form the Serfaus – Fiss – Ladis ski region , which, along with Sölden, Ischgl and St. Anton am Arlberg, is now one of the most famous regions in Tyrol.

Culture and sights

Parish church hl. Martin
  • The Catholic parish church of Ladis was built as a classical building from 1829 to 1831 and is surrounded by the cemetery.
  • The Laudegg on the northeastern outskirts of the village perched on a vertical slate rock high above the Inn Valley. The residential tower was built around 1200, the small hall only a little later. The castle was the administrative seat of the Upper Court until the 16th century and gradually fell into disrepair when the administrative seat moved to Ried im Oberinntal . Restoration began in 1940. The castle can be visited.
  • The listed former Rechelerhaus farm is used as a culture and event center. The building consists of the farm and was expanded with additions in 2007/08. The cultural center has, among other things, an event hall with 200 seats, an open-air stage with spectator stands and a museum and gallery.
