St. Martin am Tennengebirge is a municipality with 1700 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the district of St. Johann im Pongau in the Salzburger Land in Austria .

The municipality was voted the sixth most beautiful municipality by the citizens of Austria in the local elections.

Sankt Martin am Tennengebirge, the place and the valley pass

The community is located in the Ennspongau of the Salzburger Land, in a side valley of the Fritztal , between the southern foot of the Tennengebirge and the Gerzkopf , a foothill of the Dachstein massif . It also belongs to the Lammertal region , in which it has shares and to which it represents the valley pass .

Community structure

The municipal area comprises two localities or cadastral communities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020, area 2016):

Main place; KG  St. Martin (1,362.92 ha)
lies south of the watershed on St. Martinsbach towards the Fritztal
KG  Lammerthal (3,317.10 ha)
lies north of the watershed, towards the Rettenbach and the region on the uppermost Lammer

The main town of Sankt Martin extends over both cadastral communities.

The only counting area is St.Martin am Tennengebirge .

The community belonged to the Radstadt judicial district until 2004 and has been part of the Sankt Johann im Pongau judicial district since January 1, 2005 .
