history
The district court of St. Johann im Pongau of the Prince Archbishopric of Salzburg was founded in 1672 from the Pongau court .

On January 1st, 2003 the judicial districts of Gastein and Werfen were dissolved and the communities were assigned to the judicial district of Sankt Johann im Pongau. On January 1, 2005, the judicial district of Radstadt ( Ennspongau ) was dissolved and the communities were assigned to the judicial district of Sankt Johann im Pongau, which means that the judicial district encompasses the entire political district.
