The St. Martinsbach , also St. Martinbach or locally simply Martinerbach , Martinsbach or Martinbach , is a small brook near St. Martin am Tennengebirge in Pongau in the state of Salzburg . It connects Fritztal and Lammertal , and thus the Pongau with the Tennengau .
Location and course
The St. Martinsbach flows southwards between the Gerzkopf of the Fritztal Mountains ( Salzburg Slate Alps ) and the southern roof of the Tennengebirge .
It rises at about 1500 m above sea level. A. on the Platten ( 1705 m above sea level ), a secondary summit of the Gerzkopfstock , which is a southwestern foothill of the Bischofsmütze and the Dachstein massif . There it runs steeply westwards. In the valley, near Oberstein and Bichlberg , it passes the town of St. Martin to the south. There, to the right of the brook, about 40 meters higher and 1 kilometer away, is a valley watershed that is barely noticeable in the terrain and connects to the Lammer valley . The St. Martinsbach turns southwest, however, past Nasenrotte and Sonnberg on the Tennengebirge side on the Weyerberg ( 1455 m above sea level ) and Buchseitberg on the Österreichberg ( 1267 m above sea level ), a foothill of the Gerzkopf. There it forms the boundary between Hüttau and Eben . In front lugs which flows from right Haslangerbach from Korein .
About 5 kilometers southwest of St. Martin it flows into the Fritzbach , which is a tributary of the Salzach near Bischofshofen , at Niedernfritz .
traffic
Pass Gschütt Straße (B166) runs along the lower reaches . The Tauern Autobahn (A10), Katschberg Straße (B99) and the Ennstalbahn run in the Fritztal . The valley of the St. Martinsbach forms an important regional connection between the Salzachpongau and Ennspongau with the Lammertal , from where you can also get to Hallein , and the Inner Salzkammergut of Upper Austria.
