Inner Salzkammergut

As Inner Salzkammergut are in Upper Austria in the south of the Salzkammergut lying communities along Lake Hallstatt , Bad Goisern , Hallstatt and Obertraun , as well as the Gosau referred. The tourist name is Dachstein Salzkammergut . In a broader sense, it covers all the Traun south draining areas of Lake Traun except the Ausseerland ( Heritage Salzkammergut ).

To the subject

The area was shaped for centuries by the state salt economy, which can be proven from the beginning of the 14th century. The well-known cultural landscape is formed by the growing interplay of natural space and significant human intervention .

Today's tourism region (multi-municipality tourism association), with the Inneres Salzkammergut tourism association as a partner in Salzkammergut Tourismus -Marketing GmbH, is formed by the four Lake Hallstatt communities. Dachstein Tourismus AG , today part of OÖ Seilbahnholding  GmbH, is responsible for the state of Upper Austria .

In a broader sense, the Inner Salzkammergut is separated from the Outer Salzkammergut (Traunsee, Attersee, Mondsee, Fuschlsee and surrounding regions), the Almtal and the Styrian Salzkammergut (Ausseerland, Hinterberg, Tauplitz). In this sense, the Bad Ischl / Ebensee and Wolfgangsee regions are also included in the Inner Salzkammergut. Within the framework of funding programs of the European Union , most of the Salzkammergut (the municipalities of Ebensee, Bad Ischl, Bad Goisern, Hallstatt, Obertraun, Gosau, St. Wolfgang since 1994, Strobl and St. Gilgen since 2001) are named under the Salzkammergut cultural heritage as LEADER + - Region organizes, and since INTERREG  II (1995) forms the association for regional development Inneres Salzkammergut RegIS.

World heritage

1997 has UNESCO as core zone 285 square kilometers of the Inner Salzkammergut - mainly to Hallstatt  - a small part of the Ausseerland region , and in the municipalities of Gröbming , Haus im Ennstal and Ramsau am Dachstein and Filzmoos shares lying on the Dachstein floor for World Heritage Hallstatt-Dachstein / Salzkammergut explained.

Numerous technical monuments such as the Triftsperren Seeklause in Steeg and the Chorinsky-Klause , the brine pipeline bridge Gosauzwang or the Rudolfsturm in Hallstatt show the region as an old industrial area. The economic history of the inner Salzkammergut clearly shows the importance of salt for the region but also for the entire state.

The traditional Salzkammergut bird catching , as the "little man's hunt" includes the catching of individual native forest birds in autumn, the forest bird exhibition on the Sunday before Kathrein (November 25), and keeping the birds outside of the fishing season in aviaries . The custom goes back to an old form of entertainment in order to enjoy the singing of the Winter Balzer. Most of the birds are released back into the wild in the spring and only a few particularly suitable lobsters are kept for the next year. The custom has been criticized by nature conservationists, is now regulated by Upper Austrian provincial legislation and has been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage in Austria by the Austrian Commission for UNESCO .
