The College for Forest and Environmental Engineering Kaunas (lit. Kauno miškų ir aplinkos inžinerijos kolegija ) is a state university in Girionys near Kaunas , the only non-university school for forestry and forest science in Lithuania . The college prepares forest technicians and environmental specialists.
history
In 1927, the Higher Forest School ( Aukštesnioji miškų mokykla ) was founded in Alytus on the initiative of Professor Antanas Rukuiža . In 1938 it entered middle school. From 1939 it was based in Vilnius . In 1945 it was reorganized as the Vilnius Forest Technology Center. The forest school has been located in Girionys ( Kaunas Rajongemeinde ) since 1963 . From 1963 she was Kauno miškų technikumas . In 1967 the technical center was named by Antanas Kvedaras . In 1991 it became the Kaunas Higher Forest School and in 2002 it became a college. In 2011 there were 1,200 students.
