Antas do Paço
The Antas do Paço are 1 + 2 (also called Antas grandes do Paço 1 + 2) two, 75 meters from each other, remote, lying on both sides of a stream on a dirt road megalithic , northwest of São Geraldo at Montemor-o-Novo in district Evora in Portugal . Anta or dolmen is the Portuguese name for around 5000 megalithic structures that were built during the Neolithic in the west of the Iberian Peninsula by the successors of the cardial or imprint culture .
Both in size and structure, with large chambers and monumental corridors, the Antas are similar. Its structure is intact and the cover and the corridor embedded in the mound have been preserved. They were excavated by Manuel Heleno in 1931. They have been and have been classified as a national monument since 1936. used as apartments until recently.
The excavations have revealed a prime funeral estate consisting of báculos , engraved slate idols , pearls, ceramics and other items related to burials. The collection is still in the Museu Nacional de Arqueologia today.
The Comenda da Igreja and the Anta do Estanque are nearby .
