Antenne Koblenz 98.0 (the officially licensed name is Antenne Koblenz ) is a local radio broadcaster for the Koblenz region . The program is broadcast 24 hours, of which 15 hours are produced from 6:00 a.m. with around 15 employees (as of 2012).

General

The operator is Antenne Koblenz GmbH. A music and information program with a focus on pop music and local news has been broadcast from the broadcasting studio in Koblenz since 2004 . In Koblenz, the station has again achieved market leadership. According to MA I 2010 , the station reaches 48,000 listeners a day in Koblenz alone. With Andernach and Neuwied there are over 150,000 daily. Stephan Schwenk is the managing director of Antenne Koblenz GmbH. The station voice was Stefan Blaufelder until 2017. Since July 2017 it has been Thorsten Schmidt. The current claim is: "One station, all hits!".

In the past, the station held two major festivals each year. "Koblenz Live" in spring and "Die Zapfkultur" in autumn. Many restaurateurs from downtown Koblenz participated. Live music was offered.

In the jingles in the program and in the imprint on the broadcaster's website, the full name and frequency is given, which goes back to an interim renaming to "Antenne 98.0" (with a comma instead of a period). Incidentally, the station uses the original spelling "Antenne Koblenz" again today, which the licensing state media authority has also used since the program started.

history

After the State Center for Media and Communication (LMK) in Rhineland-Palatinate had given the go-ahead and allocated a frequency in Koblenz, the new local radio station went on air on February 29, 2004.

This was preceded by a dispute over the name of the new station. Originally it was planned to name the station “Radio Koblenz”, but SWR 4 had already secured this name for itself.

Antenne Koblenz started in 2004 with only the transmitter in Koblenz. On March 17, 2005, two more transmission masts were added and the transmission area could be expanded considerably to include Neuwied, Andernach and Mülheim-Kärlich.

On 16 June 2008, the station has been attending local radio chain The Radio Group in antenna 98.0 renamed in early 2009 then in antenna Koblenz 98.0. In the meantime, the short form (without additional frequency) is predominant again.
