Anthonie Waterloo (* before May 6, 1609 in Lille or Utrecht , † before October 23, 1690 in Utrecht) was a Dutch painter and etcher .

At the age of 21, Waterloo was accepted as a member of the St. Luke's Guild in his hometown in 1619 . For a long time, Waterloo lived and worked in a house between Maarssen and Breukelen near Utrecht. There Jan Weenix visited him several times and helped him to complete some landscape paintings by decorating them with figures and animals.

At the age of about 70, Waterloo died around 1670 in St. Job's Hospital in Utrecht.

Few oil paintings are known of Waterloo. 136 of his etchings can still be ascribed to Waterloo without a doubt. In these etchings, Waterloo repeatedly addressed nature. His feeling for nature is particularly evident in his forest scenes, which he executed with the utmost precision.
