Anthony Price

Alan Anthony Price ( August 16, 1928 in Hertfordshire - May 30, 2019 ) was a British writer who also worked as a journalist and editor for a long time.

Life

After attending the King's School in Canterbury , Price served in the British Army from 1947 to 1949 , which he left with the rank of Captain . He completed his studies at Merton College in Oxford in 1952 with an MA. From 1952 to 1988 Price worked as a journalist for Westminster Press , and from 1972 to 1988 as an editor for the Oxford Times .

Price became internationally known as the author of espionage thrillers, which appeared between 1970 and 1989 as a series of 19 novels about the duo Dr David Audley and Colonel Jack Butler . His best-known novel in German-speaking countries is Other Paths to Glory (1974; German 1977 as a detour to fame ), for which he received the Gold Dagger in 1974 . Three of his novels were filmed for television in 1986.

Price had been married since 1953 and had two sons and a daughter.
