Anthony Yarde (* 13. August 1991 in London Borough of Hackney , London , England ) is a British professional boxer in light heavyweight . The standard boom is trained by Babatunde Ajayi and promoted by Frank Warren .

Amateur career

Yarde didn't start boxing until he was 19. He completed a total of only 12 fights among the amateurs , of which he won 11 by knockout and lost one.

In 2013 he won the Haringey Cup .

Professional career

On May 9, 2015, Yarde made his debut with a classic knockout win in Round 2 against Mitch Mitchell.

On May 20, 2017 he won the Southern Area Belt of the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC for short) when he beat Chris Hobbs by TKo in the 4th round. In July of the same year he became European WBO champion with a knockout victory in the first round over Richard Baranyi . Just over two months later he defended that title in a fight against Norbert Nemesapati prematurely in round 3. This victory also earned him the vacant WBO Intercontinental title. He defended both belts in fights against Nikola Sjekloća and Tony Averlant by knockout. He suffered his first loss as a professional on August 24, 2019 against Sergey Kovalev after being knocked out in the 11th round.
