content

The texts now revolve more around religious topics that are extremely provocative and often made up of blasphemy. The song angel is about the submission of mankind by angels, in the germination time the protagonist shouts that God should finally let him metamorphize in peace and to earth and in the case of war in paradise , the biblical dragon, which is supposed to symbolize the devil , becomes paradise conquered and defeated the entire kingdom of God. Sodom and Gomorrah is about the person of God himself, who is represented there as an absolutist ruler who makes humanity suffer.

Presentation

The cover of the album this time is a photo collage in yellow. For the first time, the new logo was used on this album, which no longer contains the original, extensively decorated Fraktur lettering , but a simplified representation where the h ends in an inverted cross . The texts in the booklet are printed in Fraktur, but compared to the album Die Propheten , this time there was a 1: 1 transfer to the Antiqua with only the round s.

Reviews

The music magazine Orkus put the album in the "Record of the month" category when it was released. Editor Arnulf Woock described it as the album which “alongside [the album] Staub is the most coherent, most mature and compact work of the band to date. Anti'christ is charged with tension, highly emotional and musically and lyrically very moving and thus once again bears witness to the wonderful symbiosis Stefan Ackermann and Bruno Kramm have developed over the years ”. Regarding the textual conception, he said that one could only compare Das Ich with Einstürzende Neubauten .

Zillo magazine stated that on the album “ aggression […] is subtly paired with pathos ” and that “ the often rabid industrial sounds […] are excellent lyrics [hide] ”.

Others

The song Garten Eden can also be found on the glowing version of the album Lava , where you can see a live recording of it from the M'era Luna Festival in 2002 on the enclosed DVD.
