Antoine Dominique Abbatucci ( December 1774 in Zicavo , † 1798 in Egypt ) was a French military leader of Corsican descent.

Life

Antoine Dominique Abbatucci was the third son of the Corsican general Jacques Pierre Abbatucci ; General Jean Charles Abbatucci was one of his brothers . In January 1792 he became captain of the Zicavo National Guard . In 1794 he took over the defense of the city when his father led the French defensive battle against Pasquale Paoli and English troops in Corsica . After about a month of fighting, he had to retreat to Calvi , defeated. During the siege of Calvis, he commanded a company of volunteers and was injured in his left arm by a bomb fragment.

After Corsica could no longer be defended, Abbatucci went to France and served in the 16th half brigade of light infantry from September 1794 . He was promoted to lieutenant of this regiment in April 1795 , acted as an escort officer and later as adjutant to his brother Jean Charles, and in November 1796 took part in his defense of Hüningen , where his brother died. After that he was not militarily active and was allowed to return to Corsica in May 1797. In October 1797 he joined the fourth dragoon regiment. He later took part in the Egyptian expedition undertaken by Napoleon , in the course of which he died in 1798 in the Nile country at the age of only 23 years.
