Zicavo ( Corsican Zicavu ) is a French commune with 229 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Corse-du-Sud department in the Corsica region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Ajaccio and the Pieve de l'Ornano municipal association founded in 2014 . The residents call themselves Zicavais or Corsican Zicavesi .
geography
The place is about 700 meters above sea level. d. M. in the interior of the island of Corsica , about 45 kilometers east of the port city of Ajaccio in the south of the Regional Natural Park of Corsica . Zicavo is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sampolo and Ciamannacce in the north, Cozzano in the northeast, Chisa and Solaro in the east, Quenza in the south, Olivese and Corrano in the southwest, Guitera-les-Bains in the west and Tasso in the northwest. The municipality area, which is unusually large for the island with 93.02 km², is heavily forested in the north. The Taravo flows through Zicavo from northeast to southwest , with the u Vergaju district on its banks at 485 m . In the east the terrain rises steeply and reaches heights of over 1500 m above sea level. At 2134 m, Monte Incudine is the highest point in Zicavo and is the southernmost two-thousand- meter peak on the island of Corsica. Other peaks in the municipality of Zicavo are:

The long-distance hiking trail GR 20 runs through the east of the municipality in a north-south direction ; through the village of the GRP Mare a Mare Center, which crosses the island of Corsica in an east-west direction .

Economy and Infrastructure
Agriculture (sheep breeding, production of brocciu ) only plays a subordinate role today. The most important industry in Zicavo is tourism with guest houses and holiday homes.
Although located in the high mountains of Corsica, Zicavo is well connected to the national road network. The municipality can be reached from the north, west and south on the Département roads (D69, D83). The nearest airport and ferry port are located 45 kilometers to the west in Ajaccio .
