Personalities

  • Guagno is the home of the famous bandit Théodore Poli , whose work in 1822 could only be ended by military action.
  • Dumenicu Leca , called Circinellu († 1771) was a priest in Guagno. As a partisan under Pascal Paoli , he fought for the independence of Corsica. After the defeat at the Battle of Ponte Novu , he gathered the troops and organized the continuation of the resistance in his parish for three years. A memorial in the village commemorates the warring cleric.
