Ucciani ( Corsican Auccià ) is a French commune with 501 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Corse-du-Sud department in the Corsica region . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Ajaccio and the Celavu-Prunelli community association founded in 1993 . The inhabitants are called Uccianais (French) or Auccianesi (Corsican).
geography
Ucciani is located at 450 m above sea level, about 27 kilometers northeast of Ajaccio in the mountains of the island of Corsica in the Corsica Regional Nature Park . Ucciani includes the villages of Conventu at 470 m, Crucoli at 450 m, Le Pont d'Ucciani at 300 m and Tinturaju at 400 m, as well as numerous small hamlets and individual farms. Ucciani is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Tavera in the north and east, Bastelica in the southeast, Peri in the southwest, Carbuccia and Vero in the west and Azzana in the northwest. The community area of 28.36 km² is almost completely forested. The Gravona flows through Ucciani . To the northwest and southeast of the Gravona valley, the area of the municipality has a pronounced mountainous character with several peaks over 800 m high. These include:
