Antoinette Tuff is a citizen of the United States , which on 20th August 2013 as a hostage of a crazed gunman by deeskalierendes behavior a possible massacre in a primary school with about 870 children in Decatur at Atlanta (State Georgia prevented). US President Barack Obama thanked the accountant for her courage by phone.

Attack on the school

On August 20, 2013, 20-year-old Michael Brandon Hill stormed the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy , an elementary school in Decatur, USA with an AK-47 assault rifle and 500 rounds of ammunition . The potential gunman took the school's accountant (secretary), Antoinette Tuff, hostage in the entrance area and asked her to request a camera team; he apparently wanted to have his fatal shootout with the police filmed. When the police arrived in front of the school, he shot the officers, missed them and went back to the secretariat. Tuff was able to call 911 without being noticed. The emergency call was recorded and documented Tuff's 14-minute conversation with the armed intruder. Accordingly, Tuff had a calming effect on Hill, talked to him about his own life experiences and was able to induce him to drop the rifle and surrender. The conversation recorded on the emergency number was published on the website of the " New York Magazine ". Actually, Tuff had taken a few weeks off and wasn't supposed to be in school at all. Antoinette Tuff was divorced after 33 years of marriage and has a severely disabled son. The Christian belongs to the church “Christian Center for Way, Truth and Life”.
