In 2005 he was relegated with the club, but succeeded in the immediate resurgence, which was followed by an immediate relegation in 2007. Then Alcaraz moved on to the Belgian first division club Bruges .

He soon established himself as a regular player at Bruges and was twice third and once second in the Belgian championship with the club. For the 2010/11 season he moved to the English first division for Wigan Athletic . After winning the FA Cup , he moved to Everton in summer 2013. From here, after only 14 league games, he moved to UD Las Palmas free of charge in the summer of 2015 with play in the Spanish Primera División , where he was also unable to assert himself, although he acted as a regular in central defense in the first six league games, but then did sustained a thigh injury and subsequently, with the exception of one game when he sat on the substitute bench and a short cup , was no longer available to the professional squad . He then moved back to his home country in mid-February 2016, where he signed with Club Libertad in the capital Asunción . Here he won the national championship in 2016 and 2017 .

In 2019 he then joined the local rivals Club Olimpia and immediately secured the title there again.
