Anton von Wietersheim (born July 14, 1587 in Stadthagen ; † January 30, 1647 in Barmstedt , buried in Stadthagen) was a German lawyer and chancellor of Count Ernst von Holstein-Schauenburg , from Christian von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel as administrator of the Diocese of Halberstadt as well of Duke Friedrich III. from Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorf .

Live and act

He was the son of the same name Anton (I) von Wietersheim and his second wife Margarethe Langermann. After studying law, he succeeded his father as councilor and chancellor of Count Ernst von Holstein-Schauenburg. When Christian von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel became administrator of Halberstadt in 1617, he made Anton von Wietersheim Privy Councilor and Chancellor at the instigation of his mother Princess Elisabeth of Denmark (1573-1625), the eldest daughter of King Frederick II of Denmark . In times of frequent absence of the great Halberstadt , the government responsibility was entirely in his hands. According to the predominant view of literature, von Wietersheim proved to be incapable and greedy ; his misgovernment used the devaluation of the dump truck and wipper era for his own enrichment. Riots broke out in Halberstadt; after Christian's return in 1623, Wietersheim was ousted and deposed.

In 1636 he became the successor of Erich Hedemann Gottorfischer Chancellor and after the incorporation of Holstein-Pinneberg into the Holstein territory in 1640 Drost in Barmstedt.

With a diploma of March 29, 1642 he was from Emperor Ferdinand III. for Hofpfalzgraf collected and received numerous privileges for himself, his heirs and descendants.

Under the company name Der Umfahende he was accepted as a member of the Fruit Bringing Society .

As early as 1621 he had acquired Joachim von Böltzig (Beltzigk) whose estates in Wörbzig and Frenz ( Osternienburger Land ), which remained the ancestral seat of the von Wietersheim family until 1796 , and married their daughter Amalie. The couple had three sons: Heinrich Julius († 1669), heir to Stadt- and Sachsenhagen, Anton III. (1636–1687), major and landlord on Wörbzig and Frenz, Friedrich, (1637–1693) landlord on Wörbzig and Frenz.

Johann Rist wrote his funeral pamphlet.
