Anton Andergassen

Anton Andergassen (born September 8, 1893 in Feldkirch ; † January 3, 1976 in Rankweil ) was an Austrian clergyman and Catholic pastor in Rankwei in Vorarlberg from 1954 to 1976.

Life

His father came from Margreid in the South Tyrolean Unterland and was a respected baker in Feldkirch. Andergassen began studying theology at the seminary in Brixen in 1911 . Due to the events of the war, he was ordained priest in 1916 in the Capuchin Church in Feldkirch . The first places of activity of Andergassen as early knives were in Gisingen and Hörbranz . From 1926 to 1935 he worked as a confessor in Rankweil for the first time. Until 1951 he worked as a pilgrimage pastor in the parish church of the Birth of Mary in Tschagguns and later for 3 years as a pastor in Dornbirn . In November 1954 he returned to Rankweil. His pastoral work as a pastor in Rankweil lasted 20 years. Much of this time was a time of reform for the church and it was subject to strong influence from the Bishop of Feldkirch and the Popes in Rome.

Andergassen promoted lively construction activity in his area of ​​responsibility, including the renovation of the Rankweiler Bergkirche and the construction of the St. Josef Church.
