Anton Battig (* 1832 in Görz ; † October 31, 1896 there ) was an Austrian bridge construction technician.

Life

Anton Battig was chief engineer at the state railway company . He invented the three-part long sleeper superstructure and received first prize from the German railway administrations for this work.

In 1870 Battig designed the state railway bridge over the Danube Canal in Vienna together with his friend August Friedrich Nathanael Köstlin (1825-1894). Again with this followed in 1870–1872 the Tegetthoff Bridge over the Vienna River , parts of which were then used in the construction of the Little Hungarian Bridge in 1898 after the Vienna River Regulation . In 1884, together with F. Podhajsky, he planned the arch bridge for the connecting railway over the Danube Canal. Battig and Köstlin participated in other tenders, but received no more orders.

In 1920 the Battiggasse in Vienna- Favoriten was named after him.
