Anton Benno Zottmayr

Anton Benno Zottmayr (born June 16, 1795 in Amberg , † May 18, 1865 in Munich ) was a German painter.

Life

Zottmayr was the son of a lawyer. He first attended the Königliche Studienanstalt and Königliche Studieneminar zu Amberg until 1812, where he was awarded several prizes, among other things. In 1812 he enrolled in painting at the Munich Art Academy . In the years 1818 to 1840 he offered his services as a portrait painter, sometimes as an academic in the fine arts, through newspaper advertisements in the weekly newspaper of the city of Amberg and guaranteed a high level of similarity in the representation. After that he worked as a portrait painter first in Nuremberg . From 1835 at the latest, he settled in Munich at Elisenstrasse No. 5. In 1840 he stayed in Amberg in the inn "to the Crown Prince of Bavaria". He devoted himself to history painting , in which P. Langer was a model for him, portrait painting and sacred painting.

Zottmayr had been married to Anna Bleicher since 1823 and had at least one daughter Maria Anna Josephina Crescentia Antonia (born April 23, 1831), who was born in Amberg.
