Anton Bernreiter
Anton Bernreiter (born November 16, 1835 in Dingolfing , † February 24, 1892 in Munich ) was a German church and animal painter.
Bernreiter studied from May 7, 1854 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich under Joseph Schlotthauer and Johann von Schraudolph .
He created altarpieces for churches in Pähl , Donauwörth and Freising in the Sebastianikapelle of St. Johannes in Dingolfing , the Way of the Cross in the Church of St. Michael in Michaelsbuch (1857) and the winged altar in the Spitalkirche St. Albanus in Lauingen .
Since 1864 he worked together with the sculptor Meyer in Saulgau and Lauingen for Ludwig Mittermaier's glass painting workshop.
From 1870 he worked at the art institute for church work founded by Josef Gabriel Mayer , where he designed cardboard boxes for glass windows for churches in England , France , Spain and the United States .
